Compliance Officer - Parking
At Horowhenua District Council, we’re here to enable what matters for our communities.
We’re looking for a confident and capable Compliance Officer – Parking to join our team. You’ll spend your days out in the community, monitoring parking, responding to enquiries and complaints, and helping people understand and follow the rules. We take a balanced approach to compliance. He mea nui te kōrero me te whakaako – education, communication and engagement are important parts of achieving compliance.
This is a 20-hour-per-week position, giving you the opportunity to work in the community, stay active and make a difference, while keeping time for the things that matter outside of work.
Ō mahi | What you’ll be doing
This is an active, people-focused role where you’ll need to be comfortable making decisions, having firm conversations and staying calm in challenging situations.
You’ll:
- Patrol parking areas across the district
- Monitor and enforce parking requirements
- Respond to enquiries, complaints and potential breaches
- Educate and communicate with the public
- Keep accurate records and complete compliance work
- Support the wider Compliance team when needed

You’ll be confident, resilient and level-headed, with the ability to communicate firmly and respectfully.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience dealing with challenging situations or members of the public
- Good judgement and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A reasonable level of physical fitness and comfort working outdoors
- The ability to work independently
- Good computer skills and attention to detail
- A full New Zealand driver licence
