Finance Officer

We are seeking full-time Finance Officers to join our dedicated Finance team at Horowhenua District Council in Levin, Horowhenua. As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of our financial processes and contributing to the overall financial management of the Council.
He aha tāu e mahi ai – What you’ll be doing
- Rates administration (inc. adjustments, penalties and remissions), and the rates rebate scheme
- Provide timely and accurate rating data and support to ratepayers, solicitors, and other external parties
- Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time
- Assist with direct debit processes and sundry debtor invoicing and adjustments
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Contributing to continuous improvement of finance systems and processes
- Demonstrating flexibility to support across all functions and kaupapa of the Finance team as needed
He kōrero mōu - About you
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within local government or a related environment
- Experience with rating or accounting systems, plus general accounts receivable and book-keeping knowledge
- Strong time management, adaptability, and the ability to kōrero and build great relationships across teams and with external parties
- Financial literacy and a customer-first approach to service delivery
