Horowhenua District Council is looking for a motivated and skilled Reticulation Network Serviceperson to join our Local Waters Team, in the Community Infrastructure Group. This is a full-time, permanent role based in the Horowhenua District, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the community through the delivery and maintenance of essential infrastructure services.

In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining strong and positive working relationships with team members, supervisors, contractors, suppliers, and the public to ensure effective communication and timely responsiveness. You will respond to customer notifications and service requests proactively, manage network faults, and ensure reinstatement works are completed promptly, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service excellence.

As a valued member of the Local Waters, Community Infrastructure Group, you will also participate in standby rosters and emergency callouts and contribute to incident responses. 

He kōrero mōu - About you

Our ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • Infrastructure Works Level 2 certification and/or Water Reticulation qualifications, or can demonstrate a solid foundation in the field. 
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of full Class 1  
  • Traffic management training is highly desirable, along with confined spaces and hazard awareness certifications. 
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in operating and inputting data into mobile field devices, is important. 
  • Experience in engaging with the public is valued, showcasing strong people skills. 

A key aspect of this role involves working on new water and sewer connections, requiring both technical competence and attention to detail. You will be expected to apply your experience in these areas to ensure high-quality installations that meet Council and regulatory standards. Strong problem-solving skills are essential, as you will often be required to diagnose issues in the field and implement effective solutions under time pressure, helping to minimise service disruptions and maintain public trust.
